Opinion No. 53-5747

May 1, 1953

BY: RICHARD H. ROBINSON, Attorney General

TO: Mr. J. D. Fernandez Chairman Eastern Taos Soil Conservation District Taos, New Mexico

{*149} Replying to your letter dated April 23, 1953, there is no provision in the Soil Conservation Act, presently existing or as amended by the last legislature, for changing the corporate name of a Soil Conservation District after the same has been duly organized and a certificate has been issued by the Secretary of State.

Until the legislature sees fit to amend the law to authorize a change, I know of no way in which the name can legally be changed.
