November 4, 1915

BY: FRANK W. CLANCY, Attorney General

TO: Mr. Fred Lewis, Taos, New Mexico.

Boycott.

OPINION

{*242} I have today received your letter of the 2nd instant asking me to inform you if there is any law in the statutes of New Mexico in reference to a boycott or the attempted formation of a boycott against any legitimate place of business.

We have no statute on this subject, but it is a common law offense for people to combine for the purpose of injuring another in his business by means of what is commonly known as a boycott, and the conspirators who combine for such a purpose can be indicted and punished in New Mexico. The persons entering into any such combination might also be subject to a civil action for damages.

You are being directed to the most recent version of the statute which may not be the version considered at the time of the judgment.
