SCHOOLS -- Legal holidays in.

OPINION

I am in receipt of your favor of the 20th inst. requesting an "opinion" relative to legal holidays as concerns schools.

In reply thereto will state that these holidays are as follows:

Armistice Day, November 11

Arbor Day, Second Friday in March

Washington's Birthday, February 22

Columbus Day, October 12

Flag Day, February 12

There was an attempt made to repeal the section making Flag Day a holiday, but it was by chapter 148 of the Laws of 1923. In this chapter the repeals attempted to be made therein were not included in the title of the bill and hence are illegal. I, therefor, believe that Flag Day is still a legal holiday.

There are several other holidays in New Mexico, but they relate only to negotiable instruments and have nothing to do with schools as do the foregoing.

Trusting this gives you the information desired, I am

You are being directed to the most recent version of the statute which may not be the version considered at the time of the judgment.
