Opinion No. 36-1394

June 26, 1936

BY: FRANK H. PATTON, Attorney General

TO: Mr. Thomas M. McClure, Secretary, New Mexico Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, Santa Fe, New Mexico.

{*126} This is in reply to your letter of June 26, 1936, in which you ask our opinion as to whether or not members of the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors should pay renewal fees.

I think they should. Section 4 of Chapter 45, Laws of 1935, provides that members of the first Board appointed shall receive a certificate of registration but there is no provision for a renewal of such certificate without payment of the fee therefor. Section 17 of said act provides that all certificates shall expire on the last day of the month of June following their issuance and also provides for the payment of a renewal fee. Under this section I think members of the Board should also pay the renewal fee.
