Opinion No. 39-3290
September 27, 1939
TO: Mr. Eduardo Gutierrez, Chairman, Mr. Kiko Gurule, Secretary, Mr. Diego Aragon, Member, Solomon Luna Union High School Board, Los Lunas, New Mexico. Attention: Mr. A. C. Galaz, Superintendent.
{*111} This office is in receipt of your letter of September 23rd requesting information as to whether or not a contract given to the school superintendent by the Union High School Board for a period of three years would be valid.
In opinion No. 1017 on this same question, this office ruled:
"We find no specified provision as to the term of office of the superintendent. It is our opinion that his term of office may be for a reasonable length of time, which would include a period of two or three years."
I am of the opinion that a contract given to a school superintendent of a union high school for a period of three years would be a valid contract.
